The Hope That Ever Rings

the days bled into nights

and feelings bled into words

sleep fled from my eyes

and warmth fled from the world

it’s a long long road

into valleys where the sun won’t shine

over mountains far too tall to climb

then you feel alone

and the days bleed into nights again

and the weary world still laments

the pain surmounts to numbness

and you can’t go on

only miracles could solve this

and faith is long gone

it’s a long long road

around the countless hills you find

over deserts that bake your mind

then you feel alone

and the searing pain makes you blind

and hope seems like it’s far behind

one day seems like a thousand years

but this hope ever rings in my ears

the lame have walked, the dumb have talked

and the sick and the dead have laughed

and here I walk this long long road

knowing for God nothing is hard

for through Him I can do all things

and cling to the Hope that ever rings
