Roll Call
We all have a role! Every Christian is called to play a role in God’s Mission – some way to help
reach the lost.
Lately I (Noah) have read naval books and completed some boating training here at JAARS –
specifically concerning outboard motors. I am struck by how everyone on a boat or everyone
involved in a naval mission has a role. Similarly, every believer has a role in God’s plan for
sharing His amazing love with all nations, tribes, peoples, and languages (Rev 7:9). Every
believer is called through faith to do the good works that God made him or her for (Eph 2:10),
whether child, parent, regular employee, boss, pastor, missionary, or retired.
Jesus Christ is captain and commander!
If you are where God wants you to be, doing what He wants you doing, then you are fulfilling
your role! Of course, His calling and plan do not always make sense to us because He is all-
knowing, and we are not. But we can rest assured that following Him is the wisest course.
We spent the last three months living at JAARS, an organization which “provides logistical
solutions to help make Bible translation possible.” This was the site of our last few trainings. I
am so thankful for organizations like JAARS which are focused on using their various skills,
personalities, and perspectives in a very intentional way - to fulfill the roles God has given them
in helping reach nations, tribes, peoples, and languages.
Where’s the line between ministry and regular work?? I dare say there isn’t one, for we are all
called to minister where God has placed us. Every person needs God equally as badly.
