Family letter for 2021

2021 has been a year of big changes for our family, as it has been for many! We

were excited to start school online at Dallas International University (DIU) for Noah to

get a second master’s in linguistics! Classes started in January, and we have completed

3 of 4 semesters and have learned so much about linguistics and Bible translation. In

January we also celebrated Teddy’s first birthday! We’ve had so much fun with him this

year as he continues to learn and grow We found out over Easter that we were going

to have another baby this year. Little Emma Jane came on Thanksgiving Day and has

been a huge blessing these last few weeks!

This summer we got to do some traveling that we had been saving for to celebrate

Noah’s graduation from seminary. We were able to go to Las Vegas, putting us near

several fun state + national parks, our favorites being the Grand Canyon and the Valley

of Fire. We also enjoyed family trips to beaches, homes, churches, and reunions. We

feel blessed to have been able to spend with close family as we start the process of

moving away to the Solomon Islands.

The summer and fall looked really different for our family because Vicki Lynn

gets so sick during pregnancy, but we still made the best of it. We are enjoying spending

the holidays at home this year as we settle into being a family of four! We have gotten

to know more about our new home in the Solomons this year, as well as build

relationships with some of the team there. We are so excited to be there this coming fall!

2022 has big plans, including graduation from DIU, Wycliffe trainings in NC,

moving to the Solomons, and starting language learning there. We would love your

prayers as we go through these big moments. As you can imagine, we have a lot of

expenses coming with these moves, and we are still looking for a few partners to invest

in our Wycliffe ministry launch account. If you are interested, please email us at

noah_smith@wycliffe.org. Our partnership team has grown to just shy of 100 people,

which we think is so cool. We have been amazed watching God provide every step of

the way. Praise be to Him!

We look forward to seeing how God uses us all over the course of this coming

year. May His peace and rest be evident in our lives during crazy times and our lives be

characterized by His love for all people!

Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among those

with whom He is pleased! -- Luke 2:14

Love, the Smith family
