Humility

“I need a heart that carries on through the pain when the walls start collapsing again;

give me a soul that never ceases to follow despite the infection within.” -Demon Hunter

(Pride is like an infection, which the Christian must fight. Like some illnesses that

remain dormant, it easily comes back whenever our guard is down.)

I am a proud creature, even when I am weak or hurt or lost or broken.

I need Your correction, though as a fool I am disinclined to listen.

I am the man with the thorn in his side, thanking You for hurting his pride.

I am the donkey always turning aside, looking back at You for my guide.

I am Abraham, following blindly to the promised land,

Which I trust You to give me but cannot take from the devil’s hand.

I feel like a king every day, but I do not know the way.

So I ask You for the wisdom unfathomable of Solomon.

I am so richly blessed; how can I ask for more?

I know You care for me; so where then is my joy?

You break me down with painful humility

To build me up, remade again for glory

Thank You, Lord
