We are officially moving to PNG

We are moving to Papua New Guinea - hopefully in late June!

It’s been a while.

We know we left you on a cliff edge the last time we wrote, and hopefully you have heard the news through the ‘grapevine’ (or ‘coconut network’ in the Pacific!) that we did get our job offers! We have spent the last month working diligently to get all the paperwork ready to make it official. It’s not always as simple as ‘yes’ or ‘no’ when you move countries, and we have been working hard to get everything nailed down.

What’s the plan?

We are hoping to leave in June for PNG, taking the 5 required flights over the 48+ hours of travel like a jump, skip and twirl into our new home. We are so glad that we will get to see most of you before then!

Upon arrival we will have some orientation and time to set up our home and family. Come August we pray that Vicki Lynn will be starting into her role as the Training Center Manager for the PILAT school there.

We are so excited that Noah is nearing the end of his Birao Grammer, expecting to finish before we move. That also gives him a great foundation, as he will be teaching the local translators all the basics of Bible translation. We also know it will be a great gift to our Birao family.

PRAYER REQUESTS

Unlike before, Noah is going to have the most flexibility - and varied responsibilities. While Vicki Lynn is learning how to care for the center, Noah will be keeping the family stable and observing how to teach and assisting in classes.

Please pray for Noah to feel satified in the season we are headed into. He does an amazing job with all the responsibilities of homeschooling and writing and teaching, but already misses the language learning and exploration of our past assignment.

Over the last month Vicki Lynn has been putting her mettle to the test getting everything organized and prepared, finding every document and getting Noah to conquer her constant nemesis -the scanner/printer.

Please pray for Vicki Lynn as she learns new skills and how to balance the responsibility and trusts in God to be the Provider. Please also pray for her physical and mental health as these tend to be the enemy’s first line of attack.

Our Toccoa, GA friends and Ebenezer Baptist Church friends have likely seen the last of us this year if all goes to plan.

Other churches, look below for the dates we hope to be driving near you!

NJ - Specifically, Grace on the Mount in Randolph and Netcong - we will be there Saturday, May 2nd and Sunday, May 3rd. We should be at all services at both campuses and we can't wait to see you!

NC - Specifically, Richland Creek in Wake Forest - we will be there Friday, May 8th through Sunday, May 17th (on stage the 17th). Wanna sign up for a time with us? The spreadsheet is HERE.

KY - Specifically, Main Street Baptist - We are still here and will be launching from CVG airport, so no worries about missing us!

Emma Jane is 4 and is so looking forward to going to PNG and joining the preschool there. She asks us daily about what life there will be like, and the best answer is always “there will be lots of mud and friends.”
