Our Visas Are Here!

We are moving to Papua New Guinea! With work permits and visas approved for the adults, and kids’ visas still in process, we are still hopeful to move end of July or first week of August.

Our Visas

Twelve weeks of waiting, a few dark days of complaining, and another great VBS at Main Street Church are in the books. We left our church’s fireworks late Sunday night to find an email we have been eagerly waiting for - our work permits were approved. Five days later we (Noah and Vicki Lynn) got our visas, and Vicki Lynn and the kids screamed so loud it was heard outside. Emma Jane announced, “We are going home!” and yes, just being in the South Pacific does feel like home.

We quickly paid for and sent in the kids’ applications for their visas (another 2 to 4 weeks). THEN we will get to book our flights!

Pray with us that all the hurdles between now and moving (mostly packing our whole appartment and MORE paperwork) are easy to leap over as we get ready to switch into the swimming part of our race - culture learning.

So what have y’all been up to?

The single mom Vicki Lynn has been mentoring and decipling is getting baptized on Sunday - by Vicki Lynn! This has been an answer to many prayers since Thanksgiving for hope to be found in this family. Today we planned how all the kids will be able to come see and celebrate the baptism!

Vicki Lynn will likely start her role as the Training Center Manager for the PILAT school by the end of August. Please pray for all four of us as she steps into a full-time work role in addition to being a mom.

Noah’s first book will be published this week and available for you to buy! It is a 7 week guide to memorizing Scripture that came out of his devotional time and helped him stay grounded in the Lord through our time in the Solomon Islands.

Teddy ran a 4 mile race with Noah and his Uncle Allyn in Cincinatti two weeks ago. He finished in under an hour - including an impromptu bathroom stop.

PRAYER REQUESTS

Our first term overseas was hard, but by God’s grace we made it through and learned a lot and even accomplished a lot. Now a long season of waiting is wrapping up. We have been worshipping and serving and growing and investing during this time of waiting. We know God has used it.

Now we are jumping into a new season. A new place in Ukarumpa, PNG. New roles. New friends and coworkers. New life rhythms. New opportunities. We know we are following the Lord, and that is a joy. We’ve lived overseas, and that diminishes the anxiety. But please pray that we can balance all things well for God’s glory - work and family, progress and rest, PNG friends and U.S. friends, our feelings and expectations.

My prayer request is that we walk humbly with the Lord!
(Micah 6:8)

Time seems to move so slowly when you are counting the days - until you realize you might not have enough of them. Can it be possible that I’m going to be itching with transition anxiety for the next 4 weeks worse than the first time we did this move?

You know you are a missionary mother when the sum of your day is packing, another goodbye, getting rid of things you actually love and use, praying we will see beloved people again this side of heaven, breaking up a fight about the shrinky dinks, reading a book you don’t fully understand to proof read for your husband, ordering Bible memory stickers for homeschooling, and realizing that my planner doesn’t even have a look-ahead calander far enough out to see our return to America dates…and crying because you forgot that tomorrow is your birthday.

My prayer request is for MORE JESUS in my life. May I be Loving, Joyful, Peaceful, Patient, Kind, Good, Gentle, Faithful, and Self-Controlled

Ruth is being baptised on July 12th by Vicki Lynn, and her testimony is being read by Vicki Lynn’s mom Jody at Main Street Church!

This is a short book describing how to do Scripture memory well and some of its benefits. It is devotional in nature - focusing on Scripture memory as a practical spiritual discipline, not an achievement.

By Noah’s choice, any profits from this book will be donated to the National Translator Education Fund, which helps provide Bible translation training to Papua New Guineans who could not otherwise afford it.

KIDS’ CORNER!!
TEDDY & EMMA JANE

Emma Jane is 4, and she LOVES all things arts and crafts, as well as swimming and “muddy puddles.” She enjoys jewelry, doing hair, make-up, and nails, dressing up, and all things glittery. We often find her in very seasonally inappropriate outfits that we can’t talk her out of - like sweatshirst and sweatpants on 93 degree days. She sings our worship playlist better than we do and can’t wait to dance in heaven, which will be “just like VBS but with confettii!”

Teddy is 6 and a budding author! He and Noah have written several stories together now, and Teddy even does the art work and treasure maps for them. He has finished Kindergarten and even got to perform a few of the 26 Bible Verses he learned at our family reunion. Daily he finishes a Boxcar Children audiobook, swims in the pool (even getting his hair wet), and practices running the half mile loop around “Nana’s Farm”.
